The 50mm f/1.8 STM – Test

So I recently bought the newest, 50mm Canon Lens. Its predecessor, aptly named the ‘Nifty Fifty’, for its light weight, affordable and great quality images.
This generation has been fitted with more metallic parts and a step motor, which results in a quieter autofocus.

Heres what I managed to get out of the lens with my 550d.

I was blown away with the lens and what it allows you to do. With some fiddling with my camera settings, I managed to get some really nice images.
Keep in mind the 550d has a crop sensor so in reality Im not getting a true 50mm image. Im getting something closer to what the 85mm delivers.

Definitely, worth the purchase whether you’re a photographer or a film-maker. Quality and affordable.
